Getting ready for 2017

I usually talk about security and startups, but today I'd like to discuss planning because now is the best time to get ready for 2017, whether you are a professional or an entrepreneur. In relation to that, I recently came across an interesting quote:

"In preparing for battle I have always found that plans are useless, but planning is indispensable." - Dwight D. Eisenhower

This quote makes sense as planning is where you exercise your brain. It's somewhat similar to (ISC)² Continuing Professional Education (CPE) to maintain your certification without taking the exam again. It gives you points for the material you prepare for a course, for example, but doesn't give you points for the lecture itself.

How to start planning?

Companies don't skip this step, and as an individual, you shouldn't either. However, as an individual, things can be simpler and quicker. For that, I've found two very interesting ideas:

Think BIG, Act SMALL, and Move QUICK, as I found here. That's a very nice framework. For the next year, just organize your activities like these and you're good to go:

One person has created a simple framework to organize your life goals. It works like this:

List 100 things you want to do in your life
Check 4 per year
In 25 years, you will have achieved all your goals

I recommend you to read more about it if you're interested. Then, you can combine this way of organizing your goals with the BSQ framework and voilà.
